International Design Award "Targa Rodolfo Bonetto" open to students of any age and nationality at Faculties of Architecture, Design and Industrial Design, as well as Schools of Design, on the theme of product design and infrastructures for the nautical industry.
2012 topics: PRODUCT DESIGN Theme n° 1
Design of the layout of the interiors and furnishings of an existing motoryacht. Example: San Lorenzo 82
Theme n° 2 Design of an event on board of an existing sailing yacht. Details to be elaborated -Setting, furnishings, accessories, etc. – to achieve highly spectacular results. Example: 50-metre boat, 2 decks by Arzanà Navi Theme n°3
Design of a mean of transportation (bicycle, mini motorbike, mini car or other, with the environment as a priority) to improve movement around ports, taking into consideration storage on board on small boats too.
INFRASTRUCTURES Theme: Pleasure Port
At a pleasure port, given 4 volumes measuring 60 metres by 20 by 3 high, each on the same level, design of entertainment for visitors to the port: - Restaurant
- Night entertainment
- Services centre
and whatever else is considered suitable for welcoming visitors to the port to achieve a brave, sensational design. TARGA BONETTO PRESS RELEASE Design Center srl, represented by Marco Bonetto and SEATEC/CarraraFiere, represented by the general manager Paris Mazzanti, are pleased to announce the joint decision to organise, with the collaboration of Decio G. R. Carugati, as from February 2008, the ‘ Targa Bonetto’ award, a competition open to students of design at Universities and schools all over the world, as part of the programme of events for SEATEC - ABITARE IL MARE. “I am very interested in young people’s work since they create new ideas which have a great influence on lifestyle and design” (Rodolfo Bonetto). The “Targa Bonetto” award was established in 1991 by Marco in memory of his father Rodolfo Bonetto, one of the great masters of Italian design. Since then it has run alongside the Smau Industrial Design Award set up by Rodolfo himself in 1968. To quote Marco Bonetto: “technological innovation is inextricably linked to design which stands as a synthesis of man and his tools. Design which is increasingly sophisticated and intelligent and manages to create extraordinarily surprising market scenarios, design which manages to become a decisive part of the general purpose of the project”. In short this is the philosophy behind Marco’s decision to transfer the prestigious award to the nautical industry which is currently a driving force in the economy and is clearly undergoing a technological evolution. “In the Italian industrial design world, notes Tomas Maldonado, Rodolfo Bonetto’s work expresses a direction with precise meanings …He was in fact very gifted at interpreting even the most complicated issues concerning the artefacts that he designed, always going beyond the more more formal aspects…”. Self-taught, Rodolfo Bonetto has made an essential contribution to the teaching of Industrial Design. Professor at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm and at the Isia in Rome, member and chairman of the ADI and the ICSID, he received eight Compasso d’Oro awards. “Design is like a butterfly in your hands, Rodolfo often used to repeat, if you hold it too tight it dies, if you let it go it flies away” . |
