Seatec 2012: promotion of "Abitare il Mare" competitions addresses Universities, Design Schools, national and internationale Architecture & Design Firms

Seatec - International Exhibition Technology, Subcontracting and Design for Boats, Mega Yachts and Ships - taking place from the 8th until the 10th of February 2012 in Carrara, Italy, has launched the following competitions:

The 9th edition of MYDA, dedicated to professionals and beginners, presents in section A, the theme "New Project". The theme of section B is "Dream Boat": a one-off project beyond the current concept of configurations, meaning total freedom of expression, a personal conceptual and formal creation; not an impossible dream but a daring vision of the future. Surely, a fascinating challenge for all participants.

The 18th edition of the competition TARGA BONETTO includes two sections: Product Design and Infrastructures, each with a variety of interesting themes.
In the PRODUCT DESIGN section:

1) design of the layout of the interiors and furnishings of an existing yacht. Pertinent example: San Lorenzo 82;

2) design an event on board of an existing sailing yacht, focussing on details such as setting, furnishings, accessories etc, for a spectacular outcome. Pertinent example: 50-metre boat, 2 decks by Arzanà Navi;

3) design of a mean of transportation (bicycle, mini car, mini bike or other with low environment impact) which can favour port mobility, taking care of onboard storage aspects, even in small boats.

The INFRASTRUCTURE section presents the following theme:

The Marinas: Within a marina, considering 4 volumes of 60 meters by 20 by 3 high, each on the same level, design of the following entertainment elements:

And any other element suitable and interesting for welcoming visitors, searching for a new project identity with a strong emotional impact. Pertinent example: MARZAMENI Harbour, Capo Passero - Siracusa, design by Tommaso Spadolini.

In the 6th edition of Abitare La Barca, students working "live" in a dedicated space will develop the following theme:

A completely dismountable boat, 3 to 6 meters L.O.A., with entirely eco-friendly propulsion, mono or multi hull, carriable and with a clear approach to a design which involves the use of natural materials, either recycled or recyclable, in every single component. Their use may range from pleasure, fishing to complementary facilities at private beaches. Particular attention should be paid to the safety and reliability that a small versatile boat should always have.

Internationally known, all the SEATEC/Abitare il Mare competions register every year higher participation of Students, Graduates and Professionals.

The 10th edition of Seatec, from 8 to 10 february 2012, will draw the attention to one of the great issues of the century: eco-sustainability and respect for the environment.
